Jon Husted was appointed to the U.S. Senate by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine in January 2025 to fill the seat vacated when JD Vance became Vice President. Husted previously served as Ohio's Lieutenant Governor (2019–2025), Secretary of State (2011–2019), and Speaker of the Ohio House. He is known for election administration reform and technology workforce initiatives.
Tim Ryan represented Ohio in Congress for nearly two decades and narrowly lost the 2022 Senate race by less than 3 points — vastly outperforming Democrats elsewhere. Known for his economic populism and appeal to working-class voters across party lines. He has remained active in Ohio politics.
Dennis Kucinich is a former U.S. Representative and two-time Presidential candidate who represented Cleveland for over a decade. Known as one of the most progressive members of Congress, he has recently run as an Independent after growing disillusioned with the Democratic establishment.
