Melissa Hortman has served as Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives since 2023, leading Democrats to their first trifecta in decades. A former attorney and DFL leader from Brooklyn Park, she helped pass landmark legislation on climate, housing, and reproductive rights. She is considered the frontrunner for the Democratic Senate nomination.
Jason Lewis is a former U.S. Representative (MN-02, 2017–2019) and longtime radio talk show host. He ran for Senate in 2020, losing to Tina Smith. A staunch conservative and Trump ally, he is making another Senate bid focused on border security and economic populism.
